Woman Arrested in Boyfriend Stabbing; Man Escapes Robbery Attempt

Here is a rundown of recent crime reports from the Royal Oak Police Department.

Highlights from reports from Feb. 18-Friday:

Woman charged in stabbing of boyfriend

A 24-year-old Royal Oak woman was charged with assault in the stabbing of her 25-year-old boyfriend on Thursday.

Royal Oak Police Department responded to a domestic violence call at the 800 block of West Houstonia on Thursday at 7 a.m. According to police, when officers arrived they discovered Karlla Mann, 24, had stabbed her 25-year-old boyfriend during an argument over marijuana. Her boyfriend, a Livonia resident, left the scene before officers arrived.

He was later found in Southfield and transported to Providence Hospital for treatment where he was reported in stable condition. The man suffered multiple stab wounds to the abdomen and back. Mann was charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Great Bodily Harm (10-year felony) and Felonious Assault (4-year felony). The preliminary exam conference has been scheduled for 9 a.m. March 4.

2 men try to rob man at busy intersection

A complainant told police that at 9 p.m. Monday two unknown men dressed in all black clothing attempted to rob him while he was walking on the sidewalk at Coolidge Highway and Woodward Avenue. The man said two suspects jumped him from behind, pushed him to the ground and punched him in the head. He said the suspects then searched his pockets. According to police, the man managed to break free and run to nearby  where he was treated for minor injuries.

The first suspect was described to police as a male in his mid 20s-30 wearing all black clothing, a black winter hat and sunglasses and about 6 feet 1 inch tall weighing 200 pounds with a thick groomed beard and mustache. The second suspect was described to police as about the same age as the first suspect also wearing all black clothing, a black winter hat and about 5 feet 7 inches tall weighing 240 pounds.

American Legion Hall robbed

An unknown suspect entered the American Legion Hall, 1505 N. Main St., at about 2 a.m. Feb. 19 and stole an undisclosed amount of money, according to police.

Stolen bikes recovered, suspects arrested

On Feb. 20 at about 10 a.m. a resident reported that an unknown suspect stole two bicycles and a MP3 player from the garage in the 2900 block of North Vermont. At 6 p.m. the same day near Lincoln and Troy, an officer noticed three males riding on bikes similar to the ones reported stolen. According to police, one suspect was apprehended at the scene and the other two ran away. After a short pursuit, the other two suspects were arrested. The bikes and MP3 player were recovered, police said.

I-696 drive-by shooters arrested in Pleasant Ridge

A witness reported to police that on Feb. 20 at 12:35 a.m. someone was firing a handgun out the passenger side window of a silver Chevy Trailblazer on westbound Interstate 696 near Woodward Avenue. Pleasant Ridge and Ferndale police stopped the suspect vehicle in Pleasant Ridge. According to police, all three occupants were arrested on charges of Possession of a Stolen Handgun and Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle.

Woman hurt after gun accidentally fires

 A 49-year-old Royal Oak resident was cleaning a .22 caliber handgun at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 11 in the 4100 block of Arlington when it accidentally went off, according to police. The woman suffered a minor cut to her left index finger.
