Woman Grabbed, Fleeing Car Thief Caught, Home Robbed

Here is a rundown of recent crime reports from the Royal Oak Police Department.

Highlights from reports from Feb. 4-Friday:

  • Sunday at about 1:35 a.m., a female reported to police that she was grabbed by a man while she was walking on the sidewalk at Gardenia and North Wilson avenues. The woman said she was able to break free and run to her house. The suspect is described as a male about 5 feet 8 inches tall in his early 20s with short hair, wearing baggy clothing with a flannel-type shirt and jeans.
  • A woman reported being physically assaulted by another female motorist at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday during a traffic altercation at Main and Fourth streets. The suspect was driving a black sport utility vehicle and is described as being about 40 with blond shoulder-length hair.
  • A Royal Oak K-9 officer with his dog, Charlie, tracked down and arrested a suspect wanted for stealing a 2009 Land Rover from the Somerset Collection shopping center in Troy. The suspect ran from the stolen vehicle through a backyard on Benjamin and was found hiding in a plastic storage box in the 2200 block of Linwood. The suspect was taken into custody and turned over to the Troy Police Department.
  • Two businesses were damaged earlier this week on Main Street. At 10 a.m. Wednesday it was reported to police that someone damaged the rear entry door of with graffiti. It was also reported that someone also damaged the electrical box of with graffiti.
  • At about 12:20 p.m. Feb. 4 a complainant reported an unknown suspect broke into his house in the 1400 block of Etowah through a locked door and stole a semi-automatic handgun and jewelry.
  • A complainant at AT&T on Woodward Avenue reported to police that at 12:15 p.m. Sunday two unknown men took an Intel computer and fled from the store.
