5 Things to Know this Week

We've got Royal Oak Restaurant Week, a blood drive and more going on in Royal Oak.

There's always a lot going on in Royal Oak. Here are some highlights this week:

  1. : returns through Sunday with 24 restaurants offering special fixed-price, three-course lunch and dinner menus for $15 or $25 (beverage, gratuity and taxes are not included). While reservations are not required, they are strongly encouraged; please contact participating restaurants directly.   2. Student Council Blood Drive on Tuesday: hosts a blood drive from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym.
  3. National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy on Wednesday: will participate in to focus attention on the importance of teens avoiding early pregnancy and parenthood. To promote the day, the high school will host a Youth Resource Fair on Wednesday called “Stay Teen in Royal Oak." The fair will feature raffles, gifts and live music. Several Royal Oak organizations and businesses are helping promote this event including: Common Ground Sanctuary, Royal Oak Schools, HAVEN, ROHS PTSA, Royal Oak Youth Assistance, Royal Oak Middle School PTSA, Royal Oak Community Coalition, Total Soccer and Churchill Community Education Center. The event is free.
  4. City Commission meets on Thursday: The commission meets for a special budget work session starting at 6 p.m. in room 315 at .
  5. Spring Fling Concert on Sunday: The South Oakland Concert Band will present it’s Spring Fling Concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday at . Ticket prices are $10 for adults; $8 for seniors and students; children 12 and under are free. For more information, please visit www.socbmi.org.
