5 Things to Know this Week

Royal Oak has a City Commission meeting, Kids Cruise, Wild Summer Nights, Drag Queen Bingo and the Woodward Dream Cruise.

There's always a lot going on in Royal Oak. Here are some highlights this week:

1. City Commission meets Monday: The commission meeting at starts at 7:30 p.m. See agenda attached.

2. on Tuesday: Fifth and Sixth streets between Washington and Center will once again be transformed into an outdoor family gathering from 4-10 p.m. Highlights of the free event include an “Explore-a-Truck” area where children can climb in police cars, fire trucks and dump trucks; inflatables, including giant slides and obstacles courses; and live music, entertainment and food. At sundown, Gnomeo & Juliet will play on an outdoor movie screen.

3. on WednesdayThe  Wild Summer Nights concert series continues at 6:30 p.m. with Motown R&B artists The Sun Messengers. Guests may bring a blanket and pack a picnic basket to enjoy the official band of the Detroit Pistons. The concert is free with admission to the zoo.

4. Drag Queen Bingo on Thursday: Not your everyday bingo! Come on down to for , which is an interactive comedy guaranteed to be lively and fun. Reservations accepted. The event starts at 8 p.m. Cost is $20.

5. Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday: It’s time for the world's largest one-day automotive event to hit the streets of Royal Oak. Enjoy thousands of classic cars, including custom, nostalgic, hot rods and collector cars, as they cruise the lanes of Woodward. There will be a family fun zone at , and will feature hundreds of classic cars, displays and a food court. Follow Patch all week for details.
