5 Things to Know this Week: City Commission Meets, Outdoor Art Fair and More

There is a lot going on around town this week. What do you have planned?

As the Fourth of July approaches, there's plenty of things happening. Here are some highlights:

  1. City Commission meets Monday: The commission meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at . Click here for the agenda.
  2. Fourth of July is Wednesday: Click here to take advantage of scheduled fireworks on Independence Day. 
  3. Wild Summer Nights Concert on Wednesday: The Gia Warner Band kicks off the Wild Summer Nights Concert Series at the .  Guests can bring a blanket and pack a picnic basket to enjoy while the music plays in the zoo's main picnic grove. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. and is free with admission to the zoo.
  4. Build a water rocket at the library on Thursday: Kids build your own and launch it on the lawn. Bring an empty two-liter plastic pop bottle and your creativity. Parents are encouraged to help with rocket construction. Visit ropl.org or call the Youth Reference Desk at 248-246-3725 to sign up for this free program. This event starts at noon.
  5. Outdoor Art Fair on Saturday and Sunday: The will be held at on Saturday, July 7, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 8, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. One hundred Michigan and out-of-state artists will be selling original art work for your home, office, or as a gift.  An exciting variety of art offered by these juried artists include ceramics, painting/prints, fiber arts, jewelry, photography, sculpture, wood, glass, leather, and mixed media.  A variety of food items will be available.
