5 Things to Know this Week: Meetings, Movie Premiere, Parade and More

Royal Oak happenings include a star-studded screening of Mitch Albom's 'Have A Little Faith,' Santa and the Holiday Magic Parade and lots of meetings.

There's always a lot going on in Royal Oak. Here are some highlights this week:

1. City Commission meets Monday: The commission meeting at starts at 7:30 p.m. Click here for agenda.

4. ‘Have a Little Faith’ premieres Wednesday: The charity world premiere screening of Have A Little Faith, based on Mitch Albom's best-selling nonfiction book, will be at the  at 7 p.m. The movie, which was filmed in Detroit, is described as being about a life's purpose; about losing belief and finding it again; about the divine spark inside everyone. Actors Laurence Fishburne, Bradley Whitford and Martin Landau are expected to attend.

5. Holiday Magic Parade on Saturday: The downtown Royal Oak parade will once again kick off the winter holiday season by showcasing more than 80 parade units,  including marching bands, floats from the Parade Company, circus performers, dance troupes and more. Jim Harper of Christmas 105.1 will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshal. The parade starts at 11 a.m. at Lincoln and Washington and heads north on Washington to Fourth Street where it heads west and ends at Lafayette. After the parade, there will be visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus at from noon-2 p.m.
