Arts, Beats & Eats Parking, Party Bus Report and More on City Commission Agenda Tonight

Commissioners will tackle a long agenda when they meet at 7:30 p.m. today at City Hall.

At their 7:30 p.m. regular meeting at , city officials are expected to discuss a variety of matters.

Art, Beats & Eats parking management contract

Commissioners will from three companies—Park Rite, Miller and Ampco—for operating Arts, Beats & Eats parking with volunteers and as a stand-alone contracted operation.

Based on the proposals submitted, there is significant cost savings in running the parking as a stand alone operation, according to a letter to members of the City Commission from Greg Rassel, director of recreation and public service. Rassel recommends not using volunteers to assist with parking this year at Arts, Beats & Eats.

Charter Vehicle Task Force Committee recommendations

Commissioners will get a report from the Charter Vehicle Task Force Committee, which met on May 4 to address problems associated with charter vehicles or so-called .

The committee has several recommendations for commissioners, including directing staff to draft an ordinance prohibiting charter vehicles from idling or parking in residential neighborhoods and to prepare a resolution to the State of Michigan for legislation to allow local municipalities to seek cost recovery for police and fire expenses for all party bus alcohol related arrests.
