Jolly Pumpkin, Cafe Muse and More on Planning Commission Agenda

The Royal Oak board meets tonight to discuss an expansion for the Washington Avenue eatery and converting a former bank on Main Street into a Jolly Pumpkin restaurant and distillery.

The Royal Oak Planning Commission is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. today at . Public hearings on tonight's agenda include:

  • Request by to expand its restaurant footprint into the space that was formerly occupied by If the Shoe Fits.
  • Request to subdivide the former Whittier Elementary School site, which is owned by Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools, into 16 individual lots for single-family dwellings.
  • Request by Jolly Pumpkin to convert the previous Citizen’s Bank, which has been vacant for six years, into a restaurant with an outdoor dining area. The for the distillery and restaurant group, which has popular locations in Ann Arbor and Traverse City, in January. 
  • Request by for variances to install temporary banners on the west, north and south parking decks for a period of nine months instead of the maximum permitted 15 days.
