City Commission Meets Tonight, Thursday on Budget

Officials to review proposed $35 million budget for fiscal years 2011-12 and 2012-13.

The is scheduled to meet tonight and Thursday in special budget workshop meetings to discuss the city's $35 million budget for fiscal years 2011-12 and 2012-13.

There will be discussion on some individual funds included in the budget document.

The individual funds scheduled for discussion tonight include the Farmers Market, recreation, ice arena, senior center, parking and  roads. Thursday, city officials are expected to review budgets for such areas as the library, police and fire departments and court.

Individual fund discussions is to include a review of financial data, the organizational chart, measurable goals and objectives and the mission statement for that employee or city function.

The meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. both nights on the third floor of .

Following all budget workshop special meetings, a public hearing is set for 7:30 p.m. June 6. Adoption of the budget is expected after the public hearing.
