City Commission to Reconsider Human Rights Ordinance and More at Meeting Tonight

Commissioners to handle a full agenda tonight.

When Royal Oak's City Commission meets today at 7:30 p.m. on the third floor of City Hall it will consider a long list of issues.

Highlights include:

  • $1.8 million contract award for 2013 11 Mile Road CDBG Streetscape Improvements
  • negotiation for potential development of city-owned parking lot at the southwest corner of Main and Sixth Streets for proposed mixed-use hotel project
  • reconsideration of human rights ordinance; options include repealing the ordinance passed by commissioners on March 4; submitting ordinance to the voters at the next general election on Nov. 5 or holding a special election on Aug. 6. 
  • dog ordinance amendment, first reading, which defines dangerous and potentially dangerous dog regulations and penalties
  • Royal Oak Police Department Annual Report
  • extending Arts, Beats & Eats contract two more years through 2017 and other amendments to the festival agreement
