Public Safety Millage on City Commission Agenda Tonight

Also on the agenda Monday are Gov. Rick Snyder's road improvement proposals, Crime Prevention Council recommendations, rodent problems and more.

The Royal Oak City Commission meets tonight to discuss a wide variety of subjects.

At their 7:30 p.m. regular meeting at , city officials are expected to discuss a variety of matters including proposed ballot language for the millage request.

Tonight commissioners will vote on ballot language for Proposal A, which is a proposed amendment to the Royal Oak City Charter to allow for a police, fire and Emergency Medical Service millage. The ballot language calls for .

If approved, the ballot proposal will go before voters at the general election on Nov. 6.

Better roads

In October, Gov. Rick Snyder offered several proposals for increased funding for Michigan's deteriorating infrastructure in a special message to the legislature titled Reinventing Michigan’s Infrastructure: Better Roads Drive Better Jobs.  A few of the measures, if implemented, would directly affect Royal Oak, according to City Manager Don Johnson.
