5 Things to Know this Week: Food Truck Rally, Police Analysis Work Session

We've got a concert, a documentary movie and more going on in Royal Oak.

There's always a lot going on in Royal Oak. Here are some highlights this week:

  1. City Commission work session Monday: The commission meets at 6 p.m. Monday at to discuss the Police Operations Analysis and Data Analysis Report prepared by the International City/County Management Association, a nonprofit public safety consultant.

  3. 'Murder by Proxy: How America Went Postal' on Tuesday: This documentary looks at the spree-killing phenomenon of years past through the lens of a socio-economic shift that began during the Reagan era. The movie includes many interviews with union steward . He represented Thomas McIlvane, the gunman who took the lives of four  postal workers before killing himself in 1991, in a grievance case that had gone to arbitration a few weeks prior to the shootings. The documentary will be shown at the at 7 p.m. Admission is $5.
  4. Street Eats on Wednesday: If you missed the, don't worry. Metro Detroit's finest food trucks are setting up inside the for a second time on March 14. Bring the whole family for a variety of affordable food served from trendy 26-foot food trucks. The event is organized by the Michigan Mobile Food Vendors Association. Vendors donate all their tips to local charities. The event is from 5-9 p.m. Menu items range from $4-$8. The rally has no cost for entry.
  5. Baroque Festival Concert on Sunday: The Royal Oak Arts Council presents the Baroque Festival Concert. Baroque music is a style of European classical music associated with composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, Handel and others. The concert takes place at the in Royal Oak and starts at 4 p.m. Admission is free but donations are greatly appreciated.
