Downtown Residential Development, Woodward Coffee House and More OK'd

Panel grants requests from Starbucks, residential developments and more.

Tuesday's Planning Commission meeting left many petitioners pleased:

  • The Planning Commission voted unanimously to accept Versa Development's request to demolish an auto service shop and vacant office building at 30712-34 Woodward Ave. and construct a Starbucks Coffee.
  • Robertson Brothers Co. plan to subdivide Royal Oak Schools' administration building site at 1123 Lexington Blvd. into 36 individual lots for detached single-family dwellings was approved by a 7-2 vote.
  • A petition to construct a multiple-family residential structure with five units at 808-810 S. Washington Ave. was granted. The three-story residential development will replace the Business Letter Service building, a longtime Royal Oak business.
  • A plan to convert a former warehouse at 4338 Delemere Blvd. into an office building for Barrick Enterprises, which specializes in the sales and delivery of wholesale fuel products, was unanimously approved by the panel.
