Judge Honored for Years of Service

Commission resolves to dedicate and name the Court House Plaza after retiring Judge Daniel Sawicki.

The following inforamation was provided by the City of Royal Oak:

The Honorable Daniel Sawicki was honored by the City Commission at the Dec. 17 meeting. The Commission resolved to dedicate and name the Court House Plaza after the Judge in recognition of his outstanding and loyal service of 44 years to the City of Royal Oak.

The City Commission also presented the following proclamation:

WHEREAS, in February of 1969, The Honorable Daniel Sawicki first became a part of the City’s history by being hired in as an Assistant Royal Oak City Attorney. He then became our City Attorney in January 1973; and

WHEREAS, in November of 1980, The Honorable Daniel Sawicki was appointed by the Governor to serve on the 44th District Court bench for the City of Royal Oak and continued to be re-elected each term by the strong confidence the citizens had in him; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Sawicki has consistently served the community here in the City of Royal Oak by possessing the qualities of diligence, fairness, integrity, patience and common sense; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Sawicki  has been a huge part of the civic community including being an active member of the State Bar of Michigan, Oakland County Bar Association, Michigan District Judges Associations, Boys and Girls Club, Knights of Columbus, as well as the Royal Oak Elks; and

WHEREAS, now, The Honorable Daniel Sawicki may enjoy traveling with his wife, Mary Christine, spending time with their children Kimberly, Nicole, James, Matthew, Mark, Michael, John and Christopher; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby thank Judge Daniel Sawicki for his dedication of 40 years of service here in the City of Royal Oak and wish him health, much happiness and enjoyment in retirement.
