Letter: Do You Support the Non-Motorized Transportation Plan?

The Royal Oak Planning Commission considers streets lined with bike paths on Tuesday.

The following letter was sent to Royal Oak Patch by Tom Regan, a Royal Oak resident:

Do you want to see Royal Oak become a safe place to walk and ride a bike?

Picture hundreds of kids walking and riding their bikes to Royal Oak schools.  Think of our downtown with hundreds of bikes parked outside of our bars, restaurants and shops. Consider the effect on property values when our streets are lined with bike paths, "Share the Road" signs, and walkable intersections.

We're on the verge. Our city planning commission is now considering a non-motorized transportation plan.  If you support these changes, let them know! They are taking written testimony:

  • Email written testimony to dough@ci.royal-oak.mi.us.
  • Fax written testimony to 248-246-3005.
  • Mail written testimony to Royal Oak Planning Department, PO Box 64, Royal Oak MI 48068-0064.

You can also attend the public hearing next week and let them know in person on Tuesday, Feb 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the , 211 Williams. The planning commission meets ont the third floor 3rd in the city commission chambers.
