New City Logo, Suicides at Target Sports on City Commission Agenda Tonight

The Royal Oak City Commission meets Monday to discuss Liquor Ordinance Amendment, pit bull incidents and more.

At their 7:30 p.m. regular meeting at City Hall, city officials are expected to discuss a variety of matters.

Royal Oak hopes to unveil a new city logo soon.

As part of its 2012-2013 goals and objectives, the Royal Oak City Commission will hire a marketing company for around $20,000 to help roll-out a unified city marketing identity and strategy.

Suicides at Target Sports 

A discussion of incidents, including suicides, at Target Sports has been requested by Commissioner Peggy Goodwin and Mayor Pro Tem Patrica Capello.

The Detroit Free Press reports seven people have walked into the Woodward Avenue shooting range and gun shop since 2001, rented guns and shot themselves. Five have died, according to Royal Oak police.

The most recent incident occured on Jan. 17 when officers responded to an attempted suicide on the gun range. The individual was transported to William Beaumont Hospital for treatment, according to police reports.
