It didn't have the pomp and circumstance of the presidential inauguration, but the Oakland County Commissioners recently also took the oaths of office in a smaller ceremony to start 2013.
Incumbents Mike Bosnic, Dave Woodward and Gary McGillivray were re-elected in November to represent Royal Oak in the 16th, 19th and 20th Districts, respectively.
After taking the official oath Jan. 9, Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub, R-District 12, was named Oakland County Board of Commissioners Caucus Republican Chairperson. Her district includes Bloomfield Township, Bloomfield Hills, and Birmingham.
Marcia Gershenson, D-District 13, will serve as Democratic Caucus Chairperson of the board. Her district includes Bloomfield Township, West Bloomfield Township and Farmington Hills.
Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown administered the oath in the commission chambers in Pontiac. Chief Circuit Court Judge Nanci Grant said the Invocation, and Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard led the swearing-in with the Pledge of Allegiance. Also present was former commissioner David Potts, of Birmingham, who was recently appointed to the County’s Zoological Authority for 2013.
