Oakland County Kicks Off Flu Shot Clinic with Free Health Fair

Various public health services will be on hand Sept. 17 - 20 at the North Oakland Health Center

Oakland County Health Division, under the leadership of Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, will kick-off its annual flu shot clinic with an open house and free health fair that highlights National Get Ready Day and various public health services.  The health fair will occur daily from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 - Friday, Sept. 20 at North Oakland Health Center, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Building 34 East in Pontiac. 

“This event is an opportunity to get a flu shot, learn more about emergency preparedness, public health and overall wellness,” said Kathy Forzley, Health Division Manager/Health Officer. “Among the topics of Get Ready Day is family preparedness, which includes unique considerations to make sure every member of the family is protected.”

The Get Ready Day display will show the contents that should be included in household emergency kits for adults, children, seniors, family members who have special needs, and pets. The health fair will include free blood pressure and BMI screenings, displays about infant safe sleep and child passenger safety, as well as information about vaccinations, substance abuse, healthy eating, exercise, food safety and more.

Residents visiting at least six tables at the health fair will receive a prize and may enter a raffle drawing for a Home Emergency Kit or an Oakland County Parks summer passbook.

Flu shots will also be available for $20 at Health Division offices in Pontiac and Southfield from Noon – 8 p.m. Mondays and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays starting Tuesday, Sept. 17. Residents can pre-register now atwww.oakgov.com/health.

Online registrants must print out a consent form to bring to the clinic where they are pre-enrolled. Online payment options include Visa, MasterCard, Medicare, and/or Medicaid. Credit card fees apply. One may also pay cash at the time of the appointment. Those who are unable to register online may call 248-858-7350 or248-424-7120. 

Walk-in clients are welcome. Their payment options include cash, Visa, MasterCard, Medicare, and/or Medicaid (no checks or money orders). Credit card fees apply.

Flu shots are available at the following Health Division offices: 

  • North Oakland Health Center, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Building 34 East, Pontiac
  • South Oakland Health Center, 27725 Greenfield Road, Southfield
