PHOTOS: Royal Oak Mayor, Commissioners Sworn in Monday

Two new commissioners and a re-elected incumbent are sworn in at City Hall.

Mayor Jim Ellison and three Royal Oak City Commissioners, including two newcomers, were sworn into office Monday by Judge Terrence Brennan and Judge Derek Meinecke of the 44th District Court.

Ellison, incumbent David Poulton, and newcomers Sharlan Douglas and Jeremy Mahrle took the oath of office at the convening of the 47th Commission at City Hall. The terms are four years for the commissioners and two years for the mayor.

Poulton, who has served on the commission the longest, was appointed Mayor Pro-Tem and city commissioners were given their assignments for the city’s boards and committees.
