Royal Oak Parks & Recreation Hosts Community Workshops

Workshops are open to all Royal Oak residents wishing to share ideas for the 2013 Parks & Recreation Five Year Master Plan.

The City of Royal Oak Parks & Recreation Advisory Board will be hosting two community workshops on Nov. 1 and Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Mahany-Meininger Senior Center in room three.

The workshops will be open to all City of Royal Oak residents who wish to share their ideas for the 2013 Parks & Recreation Five Year Master Plan. Citizens will have the opportunity to provide their suggestions about Parks & Recreation facilities, services and programming.  Recreation Director Tod Gazetti knows the importance of resident input, “I hear good ideas from residents and visitors year round, and we always value those suggestions. This is a chance for them to formally participate in the creation of a strategic document we use to guide decision making.”

The Master Plan will serve as a guiding force for decision making over the next five years for the City of Royal Oak.  It will be put on file with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG), and the Oakland County Parks System.  This new Master Plan will also be used to qualify the City of Royal Oak for DNR Grants over the next five years.
