Sewer and Sewage Disposal Ordinace Amendment on City Commission Agenda

City Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

The Royal Oak City Commission faces a short agenda for Monday's regular meeting.

Sewers and sewage disposal ordinance amendment

The Royal Oak City Commission will consider passing an amendment to the sewers and sewage disposal ordinance that would make property owners responsible for the service lead from his or her property to the public sewer.

Failure to maintain a sewer service lead that results in damage to city property, such as streets or sidewalks, would be punishable by a fine of up to $500 and/or up to 90 days in jail.

Rezoning of former Burger King site

The Royal Oak City Commission will consider a conditional rezoning that will allow a self-storage facility on Woodward Avenue near the Interstate 696 gateway area.

In July, commissioners voted 4-1 on the first reading to approve the rezoning of the vacant and graffitied Burger King site to allow construction of a 109,000-square-foot self-storage facility.
