Why Jim Rasor Won't Run for Reelection in November

Commissioner Jim Rasor won't run for reelection in November after serving 4 years on Royal Oak City Commission.

"I'm just spread too thin," Rasor said over the weekend as he enjoyed country music duo Montgomery Gentry at Art, Beats & Eats in downtown Royal Oak. "I want to spend more time growing my business."

Rasor founded the Rasor Law Firm, located at 321 Williams St., in 1994.

The outspoken commissioner added he feels comfortable with Mayor Jim Ellison and the four candidates — David Poulton, Sharlan Douglas, Diane Hargan and Jeremy Mahrle — running for three city commission seats.

"Any combination is OK with me. I'm confident the commission will be able to continue to do good work," he said.
