Why we allow fireworks in our city is beyond me? As most people would probably agree, they're not only loud and obnoxious -- especially for those of us who live near the annual city-sponsored display at Red Run -- they're also dangerous.
What's more, for the past few weeks, people have been setting them off in my neighborhood, anywhere from 10pm till midnight, making it almost impossible to sleep. Plus, it scares the hell out of my dog, causing her to hyperventilate in the process.
I suppose like most stupid practices that we humans permit in life (texting and talking on the phone while driving, for example) until somone gets seriously hurt or killed, or a house catches fire, the status quo will continue. I, for one, feel that we should follow Warren's lead and place tight restrictions on them, if not ban them outright.

If most of you agree with me, why do we go on allowing the very few who buy the stupid things destroy our peace (not to mention sleep) for multiple weeks every summer? I don't get it.
