Students Flip for BMX Performance

Upton Elementary students were rewarded for meeting fundraising goals with a thrilling assembly.

Students at Upton Elementary were treated to a high energy BMX performance Friday afternoon as a reward for earning nearly $10,000 in a fundraising effort.

"We worked with Great American Opportunities selling things like wrapping paper and jewelry," said Janette Catchpole, PTA President at Upton. "With the money we raised we were able to purchase things for the classrooms."

The BMX assembly was a reward for students hard work.

Eric "Vinny" Vasquez, Jarret Kahle, and Corey Yarbrough dazzled the students, making stunts look easy.

"It's not easy at all. We have been practicing for 10 years," Vasquez told students. "We stay away from drugs and live a positive lifestyle."

Vasquez reminded students to always wear a helmet when riding a bike and, of course, not to try any of the stunts at home.
