Color Them Healthy: Royal Oak Students Design Coloring Books for Sick Kids

Each of the 31 students in the Advanced Graphics class designed a page for the coloring book, which was printed on the school's printing press and distributed to pediatric patients.

Pediatric patients at William Beaumont Hospital recently received an ABC Coloring Book designed and printed by Royal Oak High School Advanced Graphics students.

The 31 students each designed a coloring book page featuring a letter of the alphabet, as well as the book covers, and then printed the book using the high school’s printing press.

The project was conceived by ROHS Graphic Communications Teacher Rachael Wrobel and retired ROHS Graphics Teacher Mike Stinnett.

Coloring books were also presented to students at the district’s Addams Early Childhood Center.

"This is the first time I've done a project like this with the kids and it was a great success,” said Rachael Wrobel. “The kids really enjoyed working on it and they were so excited about the final product. Students get excited about the idea of designing live projects like this and it is so great to see their reactions once the final product gets into their hands."
