2-Day Filmmaking Course: 'Be Your Own Hollywood'

Learn to create, finance and distribute your own movies at this intensive course (two eight-hour days) for producers, screenwriters, directors and anyone who wants to get ahead in filmmaking.

Successful local filmmaker Joel Paul Reisig ('Fraternity House,' 'Mary's Buttons,' 'Win By Fall,' 'A Dog for Christmas') and playwright Cindy Nehr will discuss story development, scriptwriting and what kind of movies distributors want to buy.

Reisig next focuses on the key step of funding by sharing approaches that moved his independent rojects from scripts to feature-length films with distrubution. "This isn't easy and I don't have a magic phone number for you to call," he says, "but I can give you four hours worth of real tips that do work - if you're willing to put in the time and effort."

Day Two (Sept. 16) begins with practical guidance on shooting -- making the most of a limited budget and limited time.

The seminar ends with a discussion of distribution. "I've had over a dozen distributors contact me, fighting over each other to distribute my next film," says Reisig. "I can teach you how."

Participants will have a chance to ask questions. "I don't hold anything back," the organizer says. "I'll help you in any way that I can."
