First place will receive a $10,000 college scholarship, second place will receive a $3,000 college scholarship, and third place will receive a $2,000 scholarship. Each scholarship will be paid directly to the scholarship recipient's college or university.

Omar is in the drama club at Royal Oak High School and is also in the choir.  He has been accepted to the College for Creative Studies and will be attending there starting in the fall.

This essay is terrible! The sentence structure is awful and the basic use of the English language is slaughtered throughout the entire essay. Submitting the essay as a poem might have been a better choice. If this is a representation of the Royal Oak schools, then the English program needs a major overhaul.

Its a bit of experimental syntax, as well the essay doesn't matter because the contest is popularity based. As well, I'm sure the student never expected it to come this far. One of the essays on the leader boards is about petting dogs for crying out loud. There's no need to be so offended and the votes are anonymous so you're identity would be hidden, maybe then you could stomach the shame of getting a kid into the college of their dreams. Its less about the essay and more about a community coming together to support one of their own. If there was a way to reenter then yes there would a be point in complaining but there isn't. I see potential in the writing, I'm sure this kid is capable of much more than what you give them credit for.
