Investigation of Royal Oak High School Principal Michael Greening Continues

Students and parents wait to hear what's going to happen while officials stay tight-lipped as they look into student activities fund. Facebook page urges support of the administrator.

It has been a month since l parents and students received word that "due to the possibility of financial irregularities in student activities funds." Since that time, no new information has been made available and there is no known timeline for resolution of the matter.

While some parents and students are taking a “wait and see” attitude during the investigation, others publicly support the embattled principal via social media. On the Save Greening Facebook page, ROHS parent Kristin Collick urges supporters to send emails supporting Greening and attend the next at 7 p.m. at the .

“Even if he is not on agenda. It is time for these elected officials to get their heads out of the sand and address this,” Collick wrote on the Save Greening page.

While the board publicly acknowledges all correspondences — at the Secretary Marty Cardamone told members they had gotten 12 letters regarding Greening — it is unlikely there will be any public discussion until the investigation is complete.

In an email to Royal Oak Patch, Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin wrote:

There is currently an on-going investigation into the possible irregularities. Because there is an on-going investigation being conducted, we are not able to provide any additional information at this time.

Because outside agencies are involved in the investigation, I am not able to say with certainty what the timeline for completing the investigation will be. Our commitment is to be sure that the investigation is complete, thorough, and fair. I have directed all staff members of the district to fully cooperate with the investigation. For the sake of all involved in this situation, I want to be sure we do not compromise the integrity of the investigation in a rush to come to a resolution.

On Thursday, Royal Oak Police Lt. Tom Goad said the matter was "still under investigation with no timeline in place."

Royal Oak Patch has been unsuccessful in reaching Greening for comment.
