Modern Day Tom Sawyers Paint Railings at Royal Oak High School

Band and Orchestra Boosters take on an old-fashioned service project.

When Tom Sawyer surveyed 30 yards of fence "all gladness left him, and a deep melancholy settled down upon his spirit." Too bad he didn't have the support of the Royal Oak High School Band and Orchestra Boosters.

About a dozen boosters showed up at 8:30 a.m. Saturday 21 to paint the rail to the school's Normandy Road entrance. The service project was a way to thank the custodial staff.

The school supplied paint, trays, wire brushes and paint brushes. The boosters supplied the labor and ROHS senior Dan Kline brought donuts.
