Oak Ridge Secretary is Nominee for Service Award

Sue Kaczkowski was the Royal Oak Schools nominee for the Oakland Schools Betty Campion Distinguished Support Service Award. Kaczkowski, Oak Ridge Elementary School Secretary, has served in the school district for 20 years.

According to the nomination, Kaczkowski’s “true value lies in her commitment to making lifelong changes in the lives of families of Royal Oak students.”  She acts as a resource for all families who are in need. As coordinator for the “Shop with a Hero” program in Royal Oak, she ensures that many children receive the opportunity to shop with either a policeman or firefighter. Students are given a gift card, a basket of food, and served dinner. The greatest gift they receive is the pride they feel as they are able to buy a present for their parents. Kaczkowski also coordinates with the Wild Turkey Federation to distribute Thanksgiving baskets to needy families in the school district, and with the Boys and Girls Club Christmas Classic to help families in need for the holidays.

The annual Betty Campion Distinguished Support Service Award is presented to exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable and skilled members of a local school district’s support staff who meet the following criteria:
