Oakland Elementary Expected to be Open Thursday After Water Main Break

A water main break that caused a few hiccups for Oakland Elementary is being repaired this evening.

Parents wondering if school at will be in session on Thursday after today's water main break, the answer is yes.

The water main break occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m., according to Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin. Workers waited until school was dismissed to start making repairs, so the school day would not be disrupted.

"They are working on it as we speak, and Oakland will be open tomorrow," Lewis-Lakin said at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.
