Recently released Explore Test scores for students at Royal Oak Middle School once again showed year to year improvement. The Explore Test has content similar to the ACT and is normally taken by students in eight and ninth grade. At Royal Oak Middle School, all eighth graders took the Explore Test this past fall.
The average composite score for students at Royal Oak Middle School was 16.6. The national average on the test is 15.5. Over each of the past three years, the average 8th grade composite score for students at Royal Oak Middle School has increased. In 2011, the average composite was 16.1, in 2012 the average composite was 16.4, and this past fall, 2013, the average composite was 16.6.
“Student test scores in our Royal Oak Schools consistently surpass national and state averages,” said Superintendent of Schools, Shawn Lewis-Lakin. “What is exciting for me is to see our scores – the achievement of our students – increase year to year.”
