Royal Oak Schools Closed, City Declares Snow Emergency

Due to poor winter road conditions, Royal Oak Schools are closed on Thursday, Jan. 2.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon. Persistent light snow will continue through the morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The City of Royal Oak has declared a snow emergency Wednesday, meaning vehicles are to remain off city streets until plow trucks have gone through the area. "Once a snow emergency is called and plowing begins, it takes approximately 24-36 hours to plow all city streets, depending on how much snow has fallen," according to the city.
