Royal Oak Students Named to All State Band & Honors Choir

More than 2,300 students from across the state auditioned.

Six Royal Oak Middle School (ROMS) and Royal Oak High School (ROHS) students have been selected for this year’s All-State Band and four students have been chosen to participate in the State Honors Choir.

According to Keith Kohring, ROMS Band Director, over 2,300 high school and middle school students from across the state auditioned for the approximately 200 band seats.

All-State High School Band

  • Francesca Leo - flute

All State High School Jazz Ensemble

  • Ryan Noechel - string bass

All-State Middle School Band

  • Maya Grossman – clarinet
  • Tess DeWilde Kohler - trumpet
  • Emma Harris – trumpet

High School State Honor's Choir

  • Leslie Seery
  • Camille Primeau

Middle School Honors Choir

  • Jessica Showers
  • Daisjah Robertson

The bands will perform Jan. 19 at the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids. The High School State Honor's Choirs will also perform on Jan. 19 and the Middle School Honors Choirs performance will be January 17.

The Michigan Music Conference is comprised of the Michigan Chapter of the American String Teachers Association, Michigan Music Education Association, Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and the Michigan School Vocal Music Association.
