Tonight's Royal Oak High School Graduation Ceremony Moved to Gymnasium

Weather maps showing "too much green," indicating showers are headed our way, according to Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin.

After much agonizing, Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin has made a decision to move commencement ceremonies from the football stadium indoors to the school's gymnasium.

"I have been looking at weather maps all morning and there is just too much green," Lewis-Lakin said. Green is the color radar maps use to indicate light to moderate rainfall.

The National Weather Service forecast for this evening says the chance of precipitation is 100 percent with rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Each graduating senior received 12 tickets for commencement guests. Since the ceremony has to be moved inside the 1,600-person capacity gym, only four tickets per student (the blue ones) will honored.

If needed, grandmas, aunts and uncles will be able to watch a simulcast in the school's auditorium.
