Holiday Magic Parade and Santa Scamper Fun Run

The 10th Annual Holiday Magic Parade and Third Annual Santa Scamper fun run are coming to downtown Royal Oak on Saturday.

The parade, which is known as Santa's first stop in Metro Detroit, is made possible by numerous sponsors and volunteers committed to making the city shine through this high impact, musical and uniquely Royal Oak event.

The parade will showcase 80 parade units, including marching bands, floats from the Parade Company, circus performers, dance troupes and more.

Jim Harper of Christmas 105.1 will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshal, as he finishes up his long-time career in Metro Detroit at the end of 2011.

The Santa Scamper is open to all walkers, joggers and runners. It is a noncompetitive event that takes place just ahead of Royal Oak's Holiday Magic Parade. The course is approximately 1/2-mile and is run on the parade route. Registration includes a race number, Santa hat, McDonald’s coupon and hot chocolate after the run to enjoy while watching the parade.

Registration for the Santa Scamper run is at 8:30 a.m. at the .

The Royal Oak Holiday Magic Parade will take place on Washington Avenue between Lincoln and Fourth Street on Nov. 19 beginning at 11 a.m.
