Vote Now: Royal Oak Athlete of Fall Season

Choose from a list of very deserving student athlete candidates.

There were a lot of great individual performances from high school athletes in Royal Oak this fall and we want to hear from our readers which one they thought was the best.

Here are the candidates:

Ben Hill (freshman,  cross country) – at the Division 1 finals for his 28th place finish at the Michigan International Speedway. He ran his best time of the season (16:00) and is part of the team that was recognized as Academic All-State. Hill also played on the Ravens junior varsity soccer team during much of the season.

Emily Heitchue (junior, Royal Oak swimming) – Heitchue was the top swimmer for Royal Oak all season. She was in the 100-yard breaststroke and as part of the 200-yard medley set a new record with her teammates at the league meet. At the state finals, she finished in (1:07.70) jumping 30 spots from her performance as a sophomore. She was just a portion of a second away from reaching All-State status.

Nolan Jones (senior, Royal Oak football) – Jones was one of only two Ravens named to the . The senior was Royal Oak’s leading rusher and his performance in the team’s season opener . He had 131 yards on 18 carries in the game.

Raymond Brown (senior, football) – The senior running back and linebacker made the All-Catholic Team for a second straight season. His two touchdown performance helped lead the Knights to a 49-7 win in the first round of the playoffs. The three-year starter was a key contributor for Shrine on both sides of the ball.
