Ravens Cross Country Team Headed to State Finals

The Royal Oak High School boys cross country team placed third in regional meet in Waterford on Saturday.

The boys cross country team is headed to the state finals at the Michigan Speedway in Brooklyn, MI, next weekend. The boys finished third in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division I Regional with 90 points at Hess-Hathoway Park in Waterford on Saturday.

Freshman Ben Hill (16:43) led the Ravens on the course that “blends steep uphill grades with long smooth downhills,” according to athletic.net. Hill, along with junior Max Benoit (16:49) and senior Leonard Jackson (17:06) all qualified individually for the state meet by finishing in the top 15.

The girls, with 242 points, did not place. Lauren Bos (20:44) led the girls finishing in 21st place.
