Royal Oak Cross Country Runners Earn All-State Honors
Royal Oak High School and Royal Oak Shrine runners finish in the top 30 at the Michigan International Speedway on Saturday.
Royal Oak High School sophomore Ben Hill placed 10th (15:33.6) in the the boys Division 1 race, and senior Max Benoit (15:35.9) finished 13th at the Michigan International Speedway on Saturday to earn All-State honors in the indivdual results.
In the Division 4 boys' race, Royal Oak Shrine junior Ben Kendall (16:12.9) finished eighth, while in the girls' race senior Morgan Button (20:01.9) finished in 21st place.
In the team results, the ROHS boys’ cross country team finished in 16th place for the second consecutive year. Shrine boys finished in 13th place and Shrine girls finished in eighth place. Last season Shrine boys finished 14th; the girls 13th.

To qualify for the state finals, the Ravens won at the MHSAA Division 1 Regional race at Lake St. Clair MetroPark. They also captured the Oakland Activities Association Blue Division Cross Country Championship on Oct. 18 at Quickstad Park.
The Lady Knights won the cross country regional championship - just as they’ve done five years running. Not to be outdone, the Shrine boys also won the regional championship – their third in a row.

The Royal Oak Shrine’s girls’ cross country team captured its second Catholic League title in three years on Oct. 20 at Kensington Metropark near Milford.
