Shrine Beats Clawson Middle School in Official-less Swim Meet

Teams use opportunity to scrimmage and sharpen skills.

CLAWSON – It had all the makings of a great swim meet — parents and fans, home and visiting teams, a pool and all the timing helpers — just no official to oversee  Tuesday's event.

So Royal Oak Shrine and Clawson middle schools swam anyway, with Shrine taking an 81-72 win – its second victory over Clawson this season.

Shrine swim coach Randy Rosler said the meet helped sharpen his team.

"It was fun and it was a good time and the kids really swam well," Rosler explained. "Clawson is a great team and our kids improved all of their times which is what we're looking for."

Shrine eighth-grader Eleanor Khuallah won two individual events: the 50-Yard Butterfly and the 100-Yard Backstroke. "I just try to do my best and not think too negatively," she explained. "I try to encourage my teammates."
