Summer Camp Gallery: Royal Oak Football & Cheer

The Royal Oak Chargers hosts its fourth annual training football camp and cheerleading clinic at Worden Park this week.

This year's Royal Oak Youth Football & Cheerleading Clinic at Worden Park attracted 108 participants, including 34 cheerleader campers.

The Chargers, part of the Oakland Macomb Youth Football Association (OMYFA), host the camp to introduce new players to the sport and condition and teach skills to all participants, according to Assistant Camp Director David Collins.

Cheer Camp General Manager Robin Newsome makes it a family event.  Her husband is a football coach, her daughter is in cheer camp, and her two sons, both players, are assistant coaches at the camp.

Cheer Camp is "a good trial to see if they want to cheer, and it gets kids off the couch," Newsome said.
