Win Some Wheels! Belle Tire Giving Away Used NASCAR Tires

Dream Cruisers are enjoying the pit crew challenge at Royal Oak location.

is bringing a little bit of NASCAR to the crowds of the 17th annual Woodward Dream Cruise this afternoon.

The Royal Oak location on Woodward (31053 Woodward Avenue) is giving dream cruisers a chance to win NASCAR used tires by competing in a Goodyear Pit Crew Challenge.

A quarter of a NASCAR car is set up in the tire retailer's parking lot and people competing have to take the vehicle's tire off like an actual pit crew would.

Competitors have to use an electric lug wrench to get the tire off and then bolt it back. To win a NASCAR tire, they have to do it in less than 40 seconds.

It's not as easy as it sounds.

Sylvan Lake resident Tom Christman (video) found that out this morning. His time was just under the 40 second mark (35.79). The best time on the day so far was 16.64 seconds.

Contestants must be 13 years or older and have permission from their parent. The competition will be set up until 5 p.m. this afternoon, weather permitting.

"The Dream Cruise is a fun time and very busy day for us," manager of the Royal Oak Belle Tire Mark Baysdell said. "Last year our store gave away 400 used NASCAR tires by 5vp.m."

Belle Tire plans on giving away up to 500 officially used tires this year.

And that’s not all the tire retailer has planned.

The FOX Sports Detroit girls are on hand until 3 p.m. greeting fans and signing autographs. Visitors can even get to have their picture taken with the ladies.

Belle Tire is also running demonstrations throughout the day.

“It is exciting to have a Belle Tire location on Woodward Avenue,” Brand Manager at Belle Tire Sarah Haines said. "The Dream Cruise is fun for the community and all who visit. We're pleased to participate in the excitement and good times during the Dream Cruise."
