Week Ahead: Holiday Magic Parade, City Meetings and More

There's a lot going on in Royal Oak this week. Here are five things you should know as you go about your week.

There's always a lot going on in Royal Oak. Here are some highlights this week:

  1. Leaf collection continues: Not so sexy but important, the 2013 leaf collection schedule continues in Royal Oak.  There are be six weeks of leaf collection in which the Department of Public Service (DPS) crews work to remove as many of the leaves as possible from the streets of the city. Each area of the city will be covered at least twice within the six weeks. Residents are asked to be mindful of the leaf collection schedule and to work with your neighbors to make this year a complete success.
  2. City Commission meets Monday: The City Commission meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Click here for the agenda.
  3. Downtown Development Authority meets Tuesday: The DDA meeting starts at 4 p.m. at City Hall. Click here for the agenda.
  4. PTSA craft show on Saturday: Royal Oak High School PTSA's Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair takes place at Royal Oak High School, 1500 Lexington Blvd., from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Click here for more details.
  5. Holiday Magic Parade on Sunday: The downtown Royal Oak parade will off kick off the holiday season at 2 p.m. with over 80 parade units, including bands, floats from the Parade Company, circus performers, and dance troupes marching down Washington. Click here for more information.
