Week Ahead: Election Day, 'Trial of the Big Bad Wolf' and More

There's a lot going on in Royal Oak this week. Here are five things you should know as you go about your week.

There's always a lot going on in Royal Oak. Here are some highlights this week:

  1. Leaf collection continues: Not so sexy but important, the 2013 leaf collection schedule continues in Royal Oak.  There are be six weeks of leaf collection in which the Department of Public Service (DPS) crews work to remove as many of the leaves as possible from the streets of the city. Each area of the city will be covered at least twice within the six weeks. Residents are asked to be mindful of the leaf collection schedule and to work with your neighbors to make this year a complete success.
  2. Election Day is Tuesday: Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Click here for Patch's Election Day Guide.
  3. 'Trial of the Big Bad Wolf' opens Thursday: The Big Bad Wolf’s clever antics are on trial and it’s his day in court! Audience members will be asked to look at the classic “three little pigs” tale in a new way as Stagecrafters Youth Theatre presents The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf.  The fast-paced comedy runs Nov. 7 through 10 at the Baldwin Theatre, 415 S. Lafayette in downtown Royal Oak. Click here for more info.
  4. Meet the Starr Family on Sunday: The Orson Starr House Guild invites you to meet Mr. and Mrs. Orson Starr (Rhoda) on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Click here for more info.
  5. Bright Side Dental Halloween Candy Buy Back continues: For every pound of unopened candy brought in, kids will be rewarded with a raffle ticket for a chance to win an amazing prize.
