Letter to Editor: Support for Douglas, Mahrle and Poulton

On November 5th, Royal Oak voters have the choice of four candidates vying for three open seats on the City Commission.

Having attending the debate on October 14th at the Royal Oak Middle School, the choices are now clear. Voters should choose Sharlan Douglas, Jeremy Mahrle and David Poulton.

The debate was very informative largely because the audience questions really zeroed in on issues that affect Royal Oak today as well as going into the future. The most important question of the evening focused on asking the candidates which boards and committees they had served on, as in my mind, that is the only concrete way to gain "institutional memory" which is so important in preparing oneself for office.

The three candidates I have named have all served on numerous boards and committees and it clearly showed while answering the wide array of questions asked at the debate. There are a litany of issues facing Royal Oak that must be dealt with above and beyond the HRO.

Sharlan, Jeremy and Dave quite convincingly showed that they are the 3 candidates who have done their due diligence and are prepared to lead on day one. I hope you'll join me in supporting these three candidates.
