Letter to Editor: Support for Operating Millage Renewal

We are voting yes on the renewal of the operating millage renewal proposal for our Royal Oak school district.

The ballot proposal is not a new tax. In fact, the authorization being sought is actually a reduction from what was approved when the locally authorized school operating millage was last renewed in 2006.  A yes vote maintains the operating funding for our schools.

Our school board is committed to all of us in Royal Oak.  Over the years many difficult decisions have been made by our elected officials on how and where to spend and cut our educational tax dollar. Their caring stewardship of our schools continues to be acknowledged as new young families and some fourth generation children such as ours are choosing to invest in homes here wanting to raise their children in Royal Oak.

Your yes vote is not simply a renewal for our schools.  Your yes vote is a renewal for our property values and our vibrant neighborhoods.  Your yes vote is a renewal for our young families choosing to live here.   Your yes vote is a renewal for Royal Oak to continue to be a great place to live and be a part of.  Your yes vote keeps our schools happy, healthy and wise. We are voting yes and we are hoping you also vote yes.
