Urgent Bridge Repair on I-75 over 12 Mile Begins Monday

Lanes on eastbound and westbound 12 Mile Road under I-75 are expected to remain closed into March.

Royal Oak residents who get onto Interstate 75 at 12 Mile Road may want to seek an alternate route beginning Monday. Urgent structural repairs to the I-75 bridges over 12 Mile Road in Madison Heights begin at 6 a.m. Monday. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) reports the right lanes on eastbound and westbound 12 Mile Road under I-75 are expected to remain closed until early February. MDOT reminds the public that the lane closures on 12 Mile Road will last into March. In early February, the single right-lane closure will switch over to the left lanes. Urgent Bridge Repair on I-75 over 12 Mile to Begin Jan. 16

Motorists can expect delays through mid-March, MDOT says.

Urgent structural repairs to the Interstate 75 bridges over 12 Mile Road in Madison Heights will begin Jan. 16, requiring various lanes closures through mid-March, the Michigan Department of Transportation said.  The repair work will require around-the-clock lane closures on 12 Mile Road until mid-March, along with lane closures and traffic shifts on I-75, according to MDOT. Deficiencies in the support mechanisms of the I-75 bridge over 12 Mile Road were discovered during a routine inspection of the bridge. MDOT inspects older bridges every six months. Woodward at 12 Mile Project to Begin This Week

$400,000 MDOT-funded work aims to make busy intersection safer.

Work is to begin this week on Woodward Avenue at 12 Mile Road on a $400,000 project that the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) says is intended to improve pedestrian safety in Royal Oak and Berkley.
