What Time are the Academy Awards? 2013 Oscar Start Time, Nominations

Shrine High School is holding an Oscar party in Royal Oak.

The red carpet will been rolled out at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for the stars tonight at the 2013 Academy Awards.  The awards show will start at 8:30 p.m. EST on ABC and is scheduled to last three hours.  It will be hosted by "Family Guy" creator/star Seth MacFarlane and televised live in more than 225 countries.  There will be pre-show broadcast for the Oscars ceremony that will begin at 7 p.m. on ABC.  In Royal Oak, the senior class at Shrine High School is holding an Oscar party at the high school the night of the Oscars.  It's a formal attire affair. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

The Oscars, red carpet, fashion, celebrities and most importantly, movies — it all takes place on Sunday, Feb. 24. WZYZ (Channel 7) will air the 85th annual Academy Awards at 8:30 p.m. The network's red carpet coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. in select markets.  Director Steven Spielberg's historical drama "Lincoln" earned a leading 12 nominations, followed by Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" with 11, while the musical, "Les Miserables", directed by Tom Hooper, and David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" tied with 8 nods each. Two of this year's nominees (if they win) could set the record for the oldest and youngest winners. French actress Emanuelle Riva, 85, received a nomination for best actress for her role in "Amour," nominated for both best …

Thanks for sharing all of the nominees! I’m a huge movie buff, so I always look forward to Oscar’s season! I have my favorites picked out as to who I think should win, but it’ll be interesting to see who each of the victors will be! As for this year's awards, director Steven Spielberg's historical drama "Lincoln" earned a leading 12 nominations Thursday for the 85th Annual Academy Awards, followed by Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" with 11, while the musical, "Les Miserables," directed by Tom Hooper, and David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" tied with eight nods each. "Lincoln" was nominated for best picture and gave Spielberg his eighth best director nomination. Favorite film opinions are as diverse as moviegoers, and this week is an ideal time to share your choice for which nominee deserves the Best Picture statue this weekend. We're interested in taste, not predictions. So click the movie you think should win, not necessarily which will snag the final Academy Award presented Sunday night. The Oscars show, hosted by Bill Crystal for a ninth time, starts at 8:30 p.m. on ABC after 90 minutes of red carpet arrival scenes outside the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
