The one-time front man of the White Stripes offers to trade treasures on the History Channel at 9 p.m.
Local music superstar and collector of "crazy stuff" Jack White will appear on the History Channel’s American Pickers tonight. When pickers Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, who scour the country for hidden gems, find an elephant head they ask their partner, Danielle Colby Cushman, to find a “third man” to purchase it. Cushman doesn’t disappoint when she delivers Detroit native White. White, 36, as you may recall, was the leader of the now-defunct White Stripes. In 2003, White, along with musical partner and ex-wife Meg White, delivered their fourth album, the Grammy-winning Elephant. “Jack White collects crazy stuff,” Cushman tells the pickers. Word is out: The men of American Pickers are heading to Michigan next month. What's not so certain? Where the team will visit when they come to the Mitten April 11-25. One of the primary goals of the trip, said producer Jeff Eggleston, is take a look at the neon sign for the historic Ypsi-Arbor Lanes bowling alley in Ypsilanti. "We were reached out to by the owner and ... we're trying to make that happen," Eggleston said. "Nothing is set in stone ... but we really like that story. It's a nice piece of American history that we'd love the guys to get involved in helping with."
