Maria's of Royal Oak is now offering 'all you can eat' pancakes for $5 on weekends. The Italian eatery on Catalpa Drive opened its doors in June serving king crab fettuccine, stuffed shells and gnocchi. The new expanded brunch menu—pancakes, omelettes, homemade cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, eggs and Mickey Mouse pancakes for the kids—is served from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Prices range from $3 for a bowl of oatmeal to $8 for the "create your own" omelet combo, which includes your choice of Swiss or cheddar cheese, up to three items, toast and a side of homefries. A new brunch option is available in Royal Oak starting Saturday as Pizzeria Biga introduces a breakfast/brunch menu. The pizzeria found a fast following when it opened in April in the century-old St. Clair Edison building on Main Street. Biga specializes in Neapolitan style pizza and other Italian specialties. Brunch will be offered from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The menu includes huevos, frittata, fritta di funghi, strada, eggs pizzaiola, polenta gorgonzola and smoked salmon. Prices range from $8.95-$10.95. The "Italian Breakfast," priced at $11.95, includes bruschetta, prosciutto di parma, poached farm egg, buffalo mozzarella, olives and an arugula salad. We had breakfast there this morning and it was easily the worst ding experience we've ever had. If you open at 10am, then they should be prepared...
